Trees Hall Athletic Center

University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh, PA

Year: 2020

Product Configuration: 3 ADA compliant XWing lanes on a modular platform system

Challenge:

To fully deliver the pinnacle of access control on short notice with a limited installation time frame during the height of winter.

Solution:

The University placed the highest priority on both functionality and aesthetics while limiting overall physical changes to the high-traffic athletic center lobby. Aeroturn provided its XWing turnstiles to solve for functionality and matched the color scheme of the lobby as if the turnstile had been there all along to solve the aesthetic requirements.

Finally, the XWings were mounted on Aeroturn’s Platform Mounting System, which required no physical alterations to the existing facility. Due to the University’s unpleasant experience with the previous turnstiles not being up to the task of 24/7 operation, complete success meant winning the confidence of the University in their decision to replace the previously faulty turnstiles with Aeroturn’s reliable equipment. Aeroturn delivers on its promise of “Zero Maintenance”/ +10-million-cycle machines, so no service has been necessary since installation, thus thwarting any customer-related performance doubts.

TD Garden Arena

Boston, MA

Year: 2017

Year: 2020

Aeroturn Model: XWing and AeroDuct

Product Configuration: 5 XWing Lanes

Challenge:

To exceed overall security requirements by protecting authorized personnel while highlighting both aesthetics and functionality.

Solution:

With a stadium capacity of 19,580 people, the safety and security of TD Garden’s guests and staff was top priority when considering the final physical access control system solution. Aeroturn needed to produce a foolproof plan that met all standards at two separate locations, while maintaining flexibility of working through daily issues and changes due to on-site construction.

Running services to the turnstiles was an additional challenge due to the floor already being poured and set. The solution was the first deployment of the AeroDuct which only requires a shallow trench and resolved structural concerns by residing above the rebar. The AeroDuct made the routing of 5 tributary services a non-event.

Citizens Financial Group, Inc.

Six Locations in Providence, RI

Year: 2018

Aeroturn Model: Portal

Product Configuration: 16 Portal Lanes

Challenge:

To fully ensure the safety and security of all employees and guests within various locations by implementing bullet resistant panels to increase interior protection during an active shooter situation.

Solution:

With a pre-existing relationship established in 2015, Citizens Bank once again approached Aeroturn with a large request for providing high-security access control solutions for unsupervised internal corridors. Aeroturn stepped up to the plate and worked directly with Citizens to develop one of the first facilities to implement bullet resistant glass panels on our Portal turnstile.

With the Portal previously engineered for heavy duty applications, the much heavier bullet resistant glass had no impact on the performance of the Portal, allowing authorized personnel to flow through the access point seamlessly while being confident the Portal turnstile would thwart a potential active shooter situation. In addition to the ballistic requirements, Aeroturn’s modular and adaptive turnstile design accommodated Citizen’s future plans of integrating multiple lanes with forward-facing metal detection capability, highlighting Aeroturn’s post-installation adaptability.

The City University of New York

New York, NY

Year: 2020

Aeroturn Model: XWing and Perpetual Support

Product Configuration: 3 XWing Lanes

Challenge:

Replace underperforming turnstiles with Aeroturn’s durable and reliable turnstiles that can withstand the daily high-volume flow of traffic and install the equipment using the original footprint, i.e., no renovations.

Solution:

Wanting to keep its students and employees safe, CUNY University looked to Aeroturn to provide a turnstile solution that would allow complete access control for 300+ visitors daily. The security layout would be deployed in two separate locations, which included the entrance by the security desk and the entrance by the library/lobby.

Ultimately, this plan made the university’s entire environment exponentially safer with Aeroturn’s full operational reliability, in comparison to the unreliable and non-functioning previous turnstiles, which at times had to be left wide open to free-flow pedestrians. With Aeroturn’s Perpetual Support being one of our core values, 3 years after installation, our team returned to retrofit the equipment to accommodate CUNY’s desire to change to a new visitor management system.
