ABOUT AEROTURN

Born out of a need in an underserved market, Aeroturn has been carefully designing, manufacturing, testing, delivering and installing the most well-engineered standard and custom turnstiles in the industry. The company focuses on helping to thwart security breaches in the government, as well as keeping education, industrial, commercial and private sector facilities secure.

Since 2001, the company, headquartered in Oxford, Connecticut, has found success with the help of its extremely knowledgeable and talented engineering staff, who have decades of engineering and design experience in at least 30 different industries far more complex than turnstiles.

Aeroturn products are the most significant advancement in turnstile design since the 1950s.

Developed to eliminate several troublesome design elements about turnstiles, this model silenced the clicking and anti-backup noises that turnstiles of that time were making; eliminated the lower arms that protruded into passageways and hit the knees of users; and stopped the wobbling of the turnstile arms so that they moved smoothly and continuously to keep pedestrians safe. This innovative design also increased the passageway for users without increasing the cabinet footprint.

The Linear turnstile was created to be virtually silent with an independently adjustable open and close speed that is field-programmable for different security profiles. Its arm motion and speed follow Aeroturn’s now-signature sinusoidal profile motion that gives customers a comfortable and safe experience. The arm fully locks in the secure position without latches or power-consuming brakes to the limit of the strength of the arm. The mechanics of the Linear unit were designed to be library quiet and be able to be installed into virtually any cabinet.

This unit was designed because there was a need on the market for a compound panel motion with glass panel tips that did not advance towards either end of the passageway when opening. This thoughtful design was created to avoid wheelchair footrests. The motion of this unit allows passageways up to 3.5 times the width of the cabinet, maximizing lobby open space. This normally-locked Portal does so without latches, brakes or noise. Over the years, this unit has become a platform for several variants, including No Prior Knowledge push bars. Ballistic glass panels, which eventually morphed into Aeroturn’s high-speed ManTrap, are advancements to the Glass Panel Portal.

This fully locking turnstile, without latches or brakes, is a field programmable, library quiet unit featuring Aeroturn’s signature sinusoidal barrier motion. The XWing was created to give pedestrians as intuitive an experience as possible, while allowing for an unlimited number of integration possibilities, including facial recognition, elevator modules, metal detection, visitor management systems and more. This is Aeroturn’s most popular product and fills in the gap between the Linear drop arm and Portal workhorse.

Co-developed with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Aeroturn’s ManTrap unit was designed in response to a need for a concept that did not exist. Revolving-type mantraps, industry-wide, have a reputation of being slow and unreliable. They frequently require service to free trapped pedestrians. Based on a completely different concept, Aeroturn’s Portal-based ManTrap affords users a 2.5 fold improvement in throughput and have yet to accidentally trap anyone in it.
